2017 has begun .. what will it bring? For TexLUG-Houston, there will be displays (museums, hospitals, faires, and more!), meetings (drafts, build contests, oh my!), and the occasional brick convention. Plus the usual group shopping trips, part swapping, collaborative builds, and whatever else we come up with.
Our Events page has a current list of our activities. This will be updated as we schedule more events, so please check back! If you have questions, want to invite us to your event, or want to be a member yourself – please use the Contact Us page.
Thank you for visiting the TexLUG-Houston website, and Play Well!
TexLUG-Houston has created a brick-built wreath for the 2016 MD Anderson Cancer Center Wreath Auction. Wreaths are donated by employees of the Cancer Center, and all proceeds benefit MD Anderson’s Adopt-A-Patient/Family Program.
Many thanks to Ed G. for design and construction, to Maria M. for submission, and to other TexLUG-Houston members for supplying parts and suggestions.
All the wreaths may be seen here. The TexLUG-Houston creation is at the bottom of the list, #176. Bidding ends Dec. 9 at noon.
TexLUG-Houston provided a variety of LEGO(R) displays at the Houston Mini Maker Faire, November 12-13. Models included an 8′ working crane, a detailed USS Constitution with hand-tied rigging, and a large classic space layout. In addition, Texas Brick Railroad helped out with a train and town layout.
Kids and adults were able to build with Minecraft-themed play brick, and a fund-raising activity allowed participants to help a local children’s hospital and take home a holiday ornament.
A total of 17 members of TexLUG-Houston and Texas Brick Railroad attended over the weekend. Several thousand public visitors enjoyed not only the LEGO area, but the entire Faire. The Mini Maker Faire is an annual event which lets makers of all kinds show off their skills and products.

Brick Fiesta was July 7-10, 2016, at the Westin Galleria, Houston, Texas. A non-profit, family-friendly convention celebrating LEGO(R) in Texas!
We had a large turnout of LEGO fans and builders from Houston, other parts of Texas, even the Pacific Northwest and Canada! There were over 200 unique LEGO models, plus a large train/city layout by Texas Brick Railroad.
Thanks to our fantastic guest speaker, Alice Finch, for an entertaining presentation. Also thanks to Kevin Hinkle and Paul Striefler, representatives from The LEGO Group, who attended the show and provided many insightful comments.
Next year’s Brick Fiesta will be in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, dates to be determined. Check back here, or follow the Brick Fiesta website, for more information.
TexLUG-Houston has great new image that will be on business cards and flyers soon! This design includes “brick-built” skyscrapers centered around an Astrodome rendition. The back of the card will indicate our availability for events, and our interest in new members.
This is another step in the process of setting TexLUG-Houston apart from other fan groups in the state. Come see us at Brick Fiesta July 9-10, and pick up a card or flyer!
